About the BHA
The BHA, a 501(c)(6) organization, was established in 2003
and officially designated the International Alliance to Promote
the Health Benefits of Dry Beans and Other Pulses. The BHA
is supported partially by a two-year $1.5 million U.S.
Agency for International Development (USAID) Global Development
Alliance grant.

How They Are Helping
To increase awareness about the proven health benefits of
beans and to impact public health policy and feeding programs,
the BHA:
-
Educates public health officials and hunger professionals
around the world about the health
benefits of beans.
-
Participates in key conferences to promote research
findings on the nutritional benefits of beans.
-
Sponsors an international
conference to bring together world bean nutrition
experts.
-
Supports scientific
research and continually updates this website to
serve as the primary resource for, and compendium of
worldwide bean-related research.
Public health organizations, like-minded companies, farmer/grower
groups, private volunteer and non-governmental organizations,
research centers and universities, and interested individuals
are joining
the BHA to help impact health care crises including HIV/AIDS,
child malnutrition, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and
other global chronic diseases.
